Movement Doubling Mechanism for Cylindrical Billet Loading. Device was designed to allow manual or automated operation of the mechanism. This is only a single subset mechanism within a much larger set of devices designed to complete the loading of these cylindrical billets into a process furnace. The design was created for manual prototype operation initially with the ultimate objective of automating the operation with minimal mechanism changes.
This device [the lower housing is shown here] feeds a metallic tube into a forming machine, holds the tube while it is being formed, rotates the tube between forming passes and advances the tube further into the forming machine as needed. MCB Engineering Consulting, LLC combines complex machine design with finite element stress and heat transfer analysis, as required, to ensure the durability and ruggedness of the machine while still maintaining a modern approach to component size and strength.
